TfW cuts more services

As of Monday, January 3, Transport for Wales (TfW) has removed additional services from its emergency schedule. Over the last few weeks, the latest wave of the Covid 19 pandemic has had a significant impact on rail traffic as staff shortages on both TfW and Network Rail have increased significantly. As a result, TfW introduced an emergency timetable from December 22nd. This means that the number of available trains will be reduced by 1015% compared to the timetable introduced just 10 days before December 12. However, staff absences are continuing to increase. It has been decided that further reductions in services are needed to enable companies to provide reliable services even at this latest stage of the pandemic. The new timetable will reduce offers by an additional 1015% compared to the timetable introduced on December 22nd. The main reductions are being made especially in areas of the rail network that suffer from high staff shortages, and the entire UK rail network is addressing service cuts by other operators. The new timetable will remain the same for the next few weeks, but will be reviewed regularly while the Welsh TfW rail industry is monitoring the impact of the new Omicron variant on employee numbers.
