The Locomotive Services Group has published a brief update on the overhaul work being carried out in BR Britannia No. 70000 Britannia.
Britannia gained momentum after leaving the hut on Monday, January 17th. The staff solved a small problem found after a major overhaul. The locomotive is in good condition and is currently in the next stage of overhaul to return to service.
On Monday, January 24, Britannia will travel by road to the Severn Valley Railway for a month of testing and trials.
When the test is complete, the locomotive will return on its own to Crewe Diesel Depot via the main line in February.
Following the execution of the truck loading test, the Britons will be repainted with BR Brunswick Green and the locomotive will join the steam fleet from March. The Locomotive Services Group has also announced details of the work completed in 70,000 Britannia. The completed works are as follows.
