Plans have been announced to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway (S & DR), which opened on September 27, 1825.
Celebration includes special steam locomotive rides, exhibitions, parades, arts and theater events. The main event is a replica of the first trip from Witton Park to Stockton via Shildon and Darlington, using Locomotion No. 1 replicas that can be broadcast in real time around the world, and is a permanent tourism linking museums. The spot will be launched. Historic sites from Tees Valley to Shildon.
A regular steam shuttle service runs between Stockton and Shildon and stops at Darlington.
