A major flood protection project has been completed between Rugby and Milton Keynes on the West Coast Main Line.
The railroad resumed on Thursday, January 13, after investing £ 2 million to make future journeys through Northamptonshire more reliable for passengers and freight.
During the nine-day closure of the West Coast Main Line, the 4km rail line was improved by installing drainage channels and cleaning gravel to prevent flooding from heavy rains.
A huge ballast cleaning train was deployed to clear the rubble under the tracks. Cleaning the gravel allows rainwater to flow out faster and the truck to be more stable.
