The first rolling stock of Tyne and Wear Metro's new £ 362m train has reached final assembly at Stadler's facility in Switzerland. This is the first of 46 trains ordered by metro operator Nexus and will replace the current rolling stock scheduled for delivery in late 2022. After the completion of the first shell of the metro's iconic yellow paint, the most important interior parts are now being assembled at the Stadler plant in St. Margrethen, northern Switzerland.

Current work includes installing wheels, seats, tool cases, plumbing, cables, floors, windows and other interior components.
