Flood protection completed on wcml

A major flood protection project has been completed between Rugby and Milton Keynes on the West Coast Main Line.

The railroad resumed on Thursday, January 13, after investing £ 2 million to make future journeys through Northamptonshire more reliable for passengers and freight.

During the nine-day closure of the West Coast Main Line, the 4km rail line was improved by installing drainage channels and cleaning gravel to prevent flooding from heavy rains.

A huge ballast cleaning train was deployed to clear the rubble under the tracks. Cleaning the gravel allows rainwater to flow out faster and the truck to be more stable. James Dean, Route Director of Network Rail's West Coast South Route, said:
